8.5 Iron Roll, Bright Finish

Installation and Maintenance notes

Install on a level, ventilated floor with moisture protection and enough clearance for access panels and discharge chutes. Anchor the frame; align the twin elevators. For electric drive, confirm voltage/phase, proper grounding, and protective devices; for diesel drive, ensure a firm base, exhaust routing, and fuel safety. Check belt/chain tension, roller rotation, and that all guards are fitted. Connect aspiration/dust outlets from the cleaner/de-stoner and whitener to a suitable collector.

Commission dry in sequence—elevators → cleaner/de-stoner → husker → whitener—verifying rotation direction, vibration, and airflow. Start with a small paddy feed, then tune: de-stoner deck angle/air volume, husker pressure and roll gap, and whitener back-pressure and knife/roller clearance to suit local variety and moisture. During operation, keep feed steady, monitor current/temperature, and clear any chokes immediately.

After shutdown, isolate power (or stop the engine), wait for all shafts to stop, then clean drum screens, gravity deck, sieves, cyclones and discharge points. Grease bearings on schedule and recheck belt/chain tension and seals. Always wear eye/ear protection and a dust mask when doors are open.
